Prevalence and Occurrence

Sixty percent (60%) of the adult population will experience some type of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) within a 12 month period and 20 to 30 percent will have weekly symptoms.

  • Approximately seven million people in the United States have some symptoms of Acid Reflux and Heartburn

  • In 2004, approximately 20 percent of the United States population reported reflux symptoms that occurred at least weekly.

  • Yearly hospitalizations with obesity diagnoses increased in the United States by 112 percent between 1996 and 2004. Obesity is linked to the development of Acid Reflux and Heartburn and frequency of symptoms.

  • Primary or secondary Acid Reflux and Heartburn diagnosis increased by an unprecedented 216 percent or from a total of 995,402 individuals diagnosed in 1998 to 3,141,965 in 2005.

  • Children with Acid Reflux and Heartburn symptoms who were hospitalized with a primary Acid Reflux and Heartburn diagnosis increased by 42 percent in infants and 84 percent in children between the ages of two and 17.

  • In 2005, 9.1 percent of hospitalizations for Acid Reflux and Heartburn also included health concerns such as weight loss, vomiting, and anemia. These symptoms can signal Acid Reflux and Heartburn and other esophageal disorders.

  • 4.2 percent of all people hospitalized with Acid Reflux and Heartburn in 2005 also had an esophageal disorder. From 1998 to 2005, other esophageal disorders also had a higher rate of diagnosis of Acid Reflux and Heartburn with dysphagia (264 percent), esophageal adenocarcinoma (195 percent) and esophagitis (94 percent).

  • In the United States, 1,150 deaths in 2004 were directly related to a primary diagnosis of Acid Reflux and Heartburn.

  • Individuals that report weekly reflux symptoms have been affected by the symptoms for more than five years.

  • In a 2000 mail survey, 130, 000 individuals reported that they had signs of reflux disease and heartburn. Of these, 95 percent reported symptoms occurring for more than one year and half reported symptoms that had occurred for more than five years. Of these, 75 percent reported that the symptoms occurred at least twice a week.

  • Fifty percent of all people questioned regarding Acid Reflux and Heartburn symptoms report that they have more heartburn at night than in the day. Sixty-three percent reported difficulty sleeping and 40 percent reported that daily functioning was compromised the next day.

  • Approximately one percent of all people in the United States with a diagnosis of Acid Reflux and Heartburn also have a condition known as Barrett's esophagus. This is more commonly seen in men, particularly Caucasian men, and rarely occurs in children. There are no specific symptoms associated with Barrett's esophagus, and usually the diagnosis of Acid Reflux and Heartburn also finds the changes in the esophagus that are consistent with this condition. The average age of diagnosis for Barrett's esophagus is 50, which is consistent with the timing of the diagnosis of Acid Reflux and Heartburn for many adults.

Absorption: Liquids vs. Pills

When deciding what is going to be the best natural supplement, medicine or remedy to buy, should one go with Liquids or Pills? There have been many studies done, and the resounding answer is that the benefits of a liquid far outweigh pill-based products. One of the most referred-to statements is found in the Physician’s Desk Reference. In this widely used medical reference book, it is noted that liquids can be absorbed up to 98%. Where as it states the absorption rate of pills and capsules is 5% - 18%. This means that 80-95% of the ingredients contained in pills are excreted or eliminated from the body, which in itself can be very difficult on one’s system. When this is translated into monetary terms, for every $100 spent on pills, approximately $90 ends up being flushed down the toilet. In contrast, liquid forms of the same supplement has an absorption rate of up to 98%.

  • Liquids are prepared utilizing fresh elements

  • Fewer doses required to receive the same amount absorbed into the body

  • Liquids are far simpler to swallow, particularly for seniors

  • Liquid ingredients are not compressed, which would require additional digestion by the human body before being assimilated in the body

  • Liquids are quickly absorbed by the body, resulting in faster (desired) effects

  • Unlike pills, liquids are not powdered – this means that liquids do not require any sort of buffers, binders or fillers, which would (again) cause an additional delay in digestion – in other words, taking more time to enter the bloodstream

  • Liquids do not “clog” sewers, cesspools, or septic systems

Apple Cider Vinegar

Ginger Root

Apple cider vinegar contains valuable minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, and magnesium.

Succulent Aloe Vera leaves contain a vast array of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, including 8 essential amino acids.

Ginger provides a multitude of essential nutrients and vitamins.

Peppermint oil contains numerous minerals and nutrients including manganese, iron, magnesium, calcium, folate, potassium, and copper.

Activated Apple Cider Vinegar: We use a proprietary process to create what we call Activated Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple cider vinegar, otherwise known as cider vinegar or ACV, is a type of vinegar made from cider and has a pale to medium amber color. Our unpasteurized and organic ACV contains mother of vinegar, which makes the vinegar look cloudy. Apple cider vinegar contains valuable minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, magnesium, and chlorine. It also contains sulfur, copper, silicon, fluorine, beta-carotene, pectin and malic acid.

Aloe Juice: Succulent Aloe Vera leaves contain a vast array of vitamins, minerals, and other beneficial ingredients such as enzymes, sugars, acemannan, anthraquinones, phenolic compounds, lignin, saponins, sterols, gibberellin, and salycilic acid, in addition to 19 amino acids, including 8 essential amino acids. Aloe Vera is rich in vitamin C and germanium. Heartburns occur when burning sensations are experienced in the chest on the throat. They are caused by a reflux of the gastric acids in the esophagus. If gastric acids’ regurgitation happens constantly or chronically, we deal with GERD/Acid Reflux and Heartburn, that is, gastro esophageal reflux disease.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several trees from the genus Cinnamomum that is used in both sweet and savoury foods. The term "cinnamon" also refers to its mid-brown colour.  Cinnamon is the name for perhaps a dozen species of trees and the commercial spice products that some of them produce. Only a few of them are grown commercially for spice.

Filtered Water: Pure water cannot be over emphasized. Chemicals alter the level and ability of the body to absorb vitamins and minerals to the detriment of good health.

Garlic - Garlic is a wonderful seasoning to add aroma, taste, and added nutrition to your dishes. We often recommend using raw chopped or pressed garlic in many of our dishes to take advantage of the benefits derived from garlic.

Ginger: Ground dried ginger (10% water) provides numerous essential nutrients in high content, particularly the dietary mineral manganese as a multiple of its Daily Value. In a typical spice serving amount of one US tablespoon or 5 g, however, ginger powder provides negligible content of essential nutrients, with the exception of manganese present as 79% of the daily value. Ginger has few negative side effects and is on the generally recognized as safe.

Honey – Honey contains essential trace vitamins and minerals.  Vitamins and Minerals are essential to good health. We use Honey not only for its nutritional values but to use it as a healthy sweetener that doesn't hurt or mess with your natural sugar levels.

Peppermint Oil - Peppermint oil contains numerous minerals and nutrients including manganese, iron, magnesium, calcium, folate, potassium, and copper. It also contains omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin A and Vitamin C.

Vanilla: Vanilla beans are one of the expensive non-pungent spices used especially as a flavoring agent in wide array of sweet-drinks and confectionaries. Vanilla extract is chiefly composed of simple and complex sugars, essential oils, vitamins, and minerals. The chief chemical component in the beans is vanillin. Its extract contains small amounts of B vitamins such as niacin, pantothenic acid, thiamin, riboflavin and vitamin B-6. This condiment spice also contains small traces of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, manganese, iron and zinc.
